    Welcome to the Texas State University chapter of The Wildlife Society. The society is composed of graduate and undergraduate students with varied interests and majors that come together to discuss wildlife issues, create educational opportunities for the public about wildlife, educate ourselves and have fun. We invite all majors to join our society and help us become more diverse and gain new perspective. Benelli Shotgun Raffle
We are raffling off a Benelli gun this semester. Purchase your 5$ tickets for a chance to win a Benelli Nova 12 ga. Pump Shotgun (28" BBL, 3 1/2 mag.) Tickets will be sold at meetings or you can contact an officer for more information.

2009 Best Member Award
We will be offering a 500$ Scholarship to be awarded to the most active and determined member of the Texas State Student Chapter Member. The winner will be decided in December. Click here for more information or to apply.

2009 Quiz Bowl
Congratulations to our Quiz Bowl Team this year for winning Second Place! It was a very close game and they played very well
Each year the Texas State Chapter of the Wildlife Society competes in the Quiz Bowl.

Questions are related to Wildlife and Wildlife courses. The Quiz Bowl is held each year in February at the State Chapter meeting of the Wildlife Society. If you are an undergraduate and would like to participate, let us know early so that you can start studying! Several graduate students and past team members are around to help you prepare and practice for the competition. It can be a lot of fun and you get to represent our school!

Sixth Annual Shoot Out
Our Shoot Out event this year was very fun and a great success! Thanks to all who participated. We are expecially appreciative of all the winners who donated their prize money back to the Wildlife Society.

Volunteer Work
Participating in volunteer work helps to unite the members of the wildlife society. It is also a great way to help the community and let people know what we are all about. If you ever donate your time to volunteering, please fill out an event form and have someone you helped sign it. Turn in event forms to Dr. Simpson, in Supple 234, or contact our President, Chris Willy.

Wildlife Certification
We will soon be posting more info regarding Wildlife Certification through the Wildlife Society. Until then, please contact Dr. Simpson for more information.

Lockhart State Park Outdoor Lab

The Wildlife Society Mission Statement

Mission
The mission of The Wildlife Society is to enhance the ability of wildlife professionals to conserve diversity, sustain productivity, and ensure responsible use of wildlife resources for the benefit of society. This mission is implemented through five goals:
1. Advocate the use of sound biological, social, and economic information in making wildlife policy decisions.
2. Enhance the knowledge and technical capabilities of wildlife professionals.
3. Increase public awareness and appreciation of wildlife conservation and the wildlife profession.
4. Promote professional standards for wildlife research, education, and management.
5. Recognize the professional stewardship of wildlife.
