14th Annual Biology Student Colloquium |
The Biology Student Colloquium is sponsored by the Tri-Beta Biology Honor Society and the Department of Biology. The Colloquium will follow the format of a typical scientific meeting and provides a formal setting in which students can present their research findings to all interested student and faculty. The objectives of the Colloquium are to:

Any graduate or undergraduate student involved in original research in the Biology Department may present a paper. Papers should address research in progress or completed research. Papers should not be given on proposed research without significant results. |

Format: |
Fifteen-minute oral presentations (12 minute talk and 3 minute question and answer period). Electronic media such as PowerPoint or Keynote are appropriate presentation formats. Hardware for each of these format options will be provided. Abstracts and electronic media will be available on the Internet as a "Texas State Biology Student Colloquium 2008 Proceedings" following the Colloquium. |

Awards: |
Awards will be given for "Best Presentation" by graduate and undergraduate students as determined by faculty judges who represent the major disciplines within the department. Competition for these awards is optional. All participants will be provided with critiques of their presentations. |

The Colloquium will be held on April 3rd, 2009. A reception will follow the Colloquium. |

Registration: |
Students will be required to submit a registration form (below) with a title and abstract of their presentation. The registration form below must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on or before March 27, 2009 Earlier registration is strongly encouraged, especially if the presentation time is important. Students will also be required to submit a CD that contains your presentation material to Dr. Clay Green's office by April 2nd, 3:00 p.m. Please make a notation if the CD is formatted for PC or MAC. Questions and comments about The Colloquium should be directed to Dr. Clay Green (SUPP 232) at 245-8037 or to Dr. Nihal Dharmasiri (SUPP 320) at 245-4911. |

The Colloquium will be held on the afternoon of April 3rd. The exact times will be announced. In the box below, please indicate your preferred presentation time and any time conflicts that you or your advisor have during the scheduled time for the Colloquium.
All presentations should be in an electronic format (e.g., PowerPoint). Files should be posted on the Departmental Server or burned onto a CD-ROM, which must be provided to Dr. Clay Green 24 hours before your presentation.
