"Good advice is always certain to be ignored, but that's no reason not to give it." (Agatha Christie)

This advice is to you from students who took the course before:
  • "Read abstracts and try to address questions given in each. Go to class, some examples are easier to understand when taught and not read only." - Yasmine.

  • "Read over the notes a lot". - Erin.

  • "Come to class". - Nicholas.

  • "Do fairly well in the lab, by taking yoiur time and don't wait to the last minute. Also come to class every day and take good notes." -Brad.

  • "Don't just know the basic concepts, but know all the examples." - Meghan.

  • "Go to every lecture + take good notes...+ of course -> study : =)". - Catrina.

  • "Attend class & study lecture notes! Do well in the lab". - Christina.

  • "1) Print out all the abstracts & do the questions. That's it. 2) You won't be tested on all you've learnt, so in an emergency it pays to be a generalist." - Nicholas.

  • "Know and understand the graphical analysis." - Emily.

  • "Do not join the Navy Reserves and expect to not be shipped out. haha. Go to every class, study every abstract, look over all notes,..." - Tim.

  • "Attend lecture and be attentive, and do not fall behind in lab". - Sam.

  • "Come to class. Ecology may seem like common sense, but there are more details than we can assume." - Lisa.

  • "Tell them to make sure they understand how the models work by doing the exercises." - Kristi.

  • "GO TO CLASS!" - Dustin.

  • "Stay caught up with lectures through abstract study questions. Also, seek TA for help in lab, especially on scientific paper." - Sarah.

  • "Attend class, study the abstracts, and review material with fellow students." - Ross.

  • "Learn population dynamics the first time around." - Amy.

  • "Come to class. One of the few classes where it helped to come." - Joseph.

  • "To read over the material and be sure to understand the concepts gone over in class and how to apply them to real situations. In general - be prepared to spend some time studying the material. And practice being able to read graphs." - Sarah.

  • "To understand (not memorize) the concepts thoroughly, to look over the Plug&Play models, and to definitely memorize the Gausian competitive exclusion principle." - Taimur.

  • "Understand more than just the notes. Ecology is about understanding the concepts." - Jessica.

  • "Start studying early. Do really well in lab and present questions to professor". - Romey.

  • "Research examples given in class for a better grasp of real life experiments. This helps understand theories and concepts better." - Eric.
