ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF FACULTY ADVISOR (pdf)
Please read each responsibility carefully. Upon the appointment of your graduate student as an NSF GK-12 Fellow, you will be asked to copy and paste the below section into an email and send to Janet Wisian (jkwisian@txstate.edu), acknowledging that you have read and agreed to your roles and responsibilities as a faculty advisor in the program. I, as a faculty advisor for a GK-12 Fellow, will 1. Support Fellow’s participation in Project Flowing Waters. 2. Report quarterly progress of Fellow towards his/her degree requirements. 3. Develop at least one activity with the Fellow connected to the research being pursued by the Fellow. 4. Visit the school twice in a year at the invitation of the Fellow, one of which should occur when the aforementioned activity is implemented in the classroom by the Fellow, and complete an evaluation form of the lesson and its implementation. 5. Volunteer to give a short presentation of my scientific research at one of the Project Flowing Waters meetings during June, August, December or April. I have read and understand my roles and responsibilities as a Faculty Advisor in Project Flowing Waters.
Program funded by the National Science Foundation and the Texas Pioneer Foundation, in partnership with Texas State University - San Marcos and the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District.
