Hotel Update: All 100 blocked rooms at the La Quinta Inn and Suites have been booked and therefore rooms are no longer available at the La Quinta Inn and Suites but the local committee has signed a contract with Holiday Inn Express, Hotel and Suites to offer meeting participants a rate of $84/night (+ tax) per standard double queen room. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance (<0.25 mile) of La Quinta Inn and Suites and the South Padre Island Convention Center. For reservation information, please see below.
Reservation Procedures: When making reservations please call our Reservations Department at (956)761-8844 or (888) 772-3222 and refer to the group code assigned to you for this stay. YOUR GROUP CODE IS (WSG) The room block will be held until October 31, 2008, after this cutoff date, unless contingency arrangements have been made, uncommitted rooms in the block will be released. Additional reservation requests will be honored with the same rate in a space available basis, as would be the case of early arrivals and late departures.
The 32nd Annual Meeting of The Waterbird Society will be held 5-8 November 2008 on South Padre Island, Texas at the La Quinta Inn and Suites. This is the first time that the meeting has been held in Texas since 1981. Three full days of scientific sessions are planned including at least eight symposia, two plenary speakers and a poster session. Registration fee includes daily breakfast and lunch buffet as well as all social events, including a welcome reception, an evening poster session, and a society banquet.
