The Biology Student Colloquium is a day-long event featuring the various research interests of our graduate and undergraduate students.
Sponsored by the Tri-Beta Biology Honor Society and the Department of Biology, the Colloquium is held annually, on the last Friday of February, in the Supple Science Building.
Contributors present posters or talks. The oral sessions run all day in the large lecture hall, 116 Supple, and are organized in the format of a professional scientific meeting, with strict time limits. Posters are shown from noon to 5 pm in the student lounge on the third floor. Student contributions are judged by attending faculty and prizes will be awarded in several categories.
The event concludes with an evening social for which all faculty, graduate students and participating undergraduate students are invited. The social will be held at the Price Center, 222 W San Antonio St, San Marcos from 5 pm to 9 pm.

Who can present?
Graduate or undergraduate students conducting research in the Biology Department or with the collaboration of the Biology Department are encouraged to submit abstracts. Due to the high number of submissions, we will not be able to accommodate research proposals or reports on experiments that are still in the planning stage. We will try to accommodate everyone with their first choice between oral or poster presentation. However, if we are running out time in the oral sessions, we will ask students that registered the latest to give poster presentations instead of talks.
Students who wish to present must register by submitting the following information directly to email@example.com:
Earlier registration is encouraged to ensure first choice. We are limited to 26 talks.
Registration deadline: Friday, 10 February 2017.
Abstracts should be submitted in the following format:
Abstracts not following thyese guidelines will be returned for correction.
Each speaker will have 15 min (12 min for presentation and 3 min for Q&A). Presentation times will be published as soon as the program is finalized. Powerpoint presentations must be uploaded to TRACS site "Colloq2017" by midnight February 23, 2017.
Maximum poster size is 42" wide x 36" tall. Printed posters must be installed in the Student Lounge no later than 12:00pm, February 23, 2017.
Awards will be given for “Best Presentation” by a Ph.D. student, M.S. graduate student and undergraduate student. There will be one "Best Poster" award. All participants will receive feedback on their presentations by the faculty judges.
